It’s Easier…

By

It’s easier to quit than to fail, yet it is worth it to prevail through struggle.

It’s easier to “know” than to have to learn, yet it is worth it to diminish our ignorance.

It’s easier to speak than to listen, yet it is worth it to be humbled by the perspectives and ideas of others.

It’s easier to fall into distraction than to feel, yet it is worth it to be present and absorb life.

It is easier to judge than to reflect, yet it is worth it to be empathetic.

It’s easier to follow than to lead, yet it is worth it to change the status quo.

It’s easier to see the wrong than to live right, yet it is worth it to be virtuous.

It’s easier to escape than to endure, yet it is worth it to grow resilience.

It is easier to accept fear than to believe in blessings, yet it is worth it to grow faith in something bigger than yourself.

It’s easier to avoid others in their time of need than to feel the discomfort of their pain, yet it is worth it to grow compassion.

It’s easier to celebrate a success than to admit a failure, yet it is worth it to feel the pride of rising after falling.

It’s easier to point out what is missing than to be grateful for what you have, yet it is worth it to be gracious.

It’s easier to participate in complaining than to initiate moments of laughter, yet it is worth it to spread and feel joy.

It’s easier to accept a dead end than to be curious about the path around, yet it is worth it to be solution centered.

It’s easier to settle for comfort than to embrace risk, yet it is worth it to find out your purpose lies beneath your fear.

It’s easier to isolate than to have the courage to connect with others, yet it is worth it to finally accept you deserve to be loved.

The human condition is exhausting, riddled with struggle and suffering.  However, even on our darkest days we must remember that we always have a choice between what is easy and what will be worth it. No one is handed joy, contentment, or fulfillment.  Those are the gifts we receive when we cultivate a different mindset.  After all, what is easy isn’t always worth it and what is worth it isn’t always easy.
